Hi! I'm a French and Turkish writer born and raised in Istanbul, and educated in New York. I'm an avid reader of world literature, continental philosophy, ethics, and political economy. My BA in Philosophy thesis focused on the ethics of globalization. And my MFA critical thesis dealt with the uses of irony in North and South American literature. I've worked at IKSV as an assistant and translator; non-profit Brooklyn Poets as an editor and mentor; Foundry Literary agency in Manhattan as assistant editor; and as a language teacher in Mozambique. I was also on the Judging Committee for the Whitman Bicentennial Award in the winter of 2019. // I think being a good reader and writer is all about loving the art and being inspired. To that end, I like to tailor reading and writing exercises to the student's passions, interests, and needs. I have previously coached English IB students through their HL Essay, as well as other course materials in shorter essays, memoir, and other creative writing.
